Officially started in 2019 in his Bucks County, PA garage, Maura James Woodworking was years in the making for Dan Gallagher.  After working in the construction industry as a skilled carpenter for 7 years following college, Dan transitioned into a career in law enforcement, allowing woodworking to become a weekend and evening hobby.
After nearly a decade on the police force, Dan allowed his woodworking skills to become a therapeutic outlet after what would ultimately become a career ending duty related injury.  It is there that Maura James Woodworking was born.

Dan began small, using his talent to make custom flags for friends and family.  Dan quickly outgrew his garage and at the height of the pandemic in 2020, the business transitioned to shop space in Quakertown, PA .  It is there that a steady stream of farmhouse tables, custom kitchen cabinets and wood products of all kinds are meticulously constructed.

Why Maura James Woodworking?

As a first generation business owner, Dan at MJW believes in the power of family.  Representing the middle names of Dan’s two children, Rowan Maura and Declan James, you often see them visiting Dad at the shop while Dan’s wife, Betsy, works at the desk in the office.  Maura James was built solely on word of mouth expressed through the confidence friends and family had in Dan’s craftsmanship.  MJW is committed to using high quality raw materials, skillfully handcrafted to fit the needs of each and every client.
